Young Carers get outdoors with Grip Adventure!

A few of our Lightning Bee reporters have produced a video to show how our charity collaborates with Grip Adventure in Sale to get young carers outdoors and socialising.
The centre, which offers kayaking and canoeing, invites Trafford Young Carers every week to use their space however they like - whether that’s having fun on the water, or playing games together in ‘The Cave’!
Our superstar reporter Atikah has done a fantastic job interviewing owner Glenn Rees to find out why he runs the project, as well as chatting with young people who use the service to see what they make of it.
Glenn said: “The adventure cave is a space for young carers to come down, have a bit of time out from their everyday life and are just able to be young people here.”
Young carer Joe, said: “It’s great to socialise and be able to express yourself… it gives you that freedom to do what you want to do and have a fun time.”
Shay Garry, our Senior Young Carers Officer, added: “Grip provides us with a perfect area for young people to meet and engage in team work games and just to chill out. This is something special which is just for them.”
Produced especially for Young Carers Action Day 2022, the video explores the theme of ‘taking action on isolation’ and how carers can unwind from their role with such activities. Take a look!
