Volunteer Vacancy: Befrienders
Posted: 12.8.21
Are you interested in becoming a Volunteer Befriender?
Caring can be lonely at the best of times, and many of our carers struggle with feelings of loneliness and social isolation. This has only been exacerbated by the current Covid-19 crisis. In response to this, we have set up a telephone befriending service to provide some extra support to carers who have been affected by the lockdown. Regular contact with a befriender can make a huge difference to individuals who have limited social support.
We are looking for volunteer befrienders who would like to support a carer remotely via telephone/video call.
Befrienders provide support in the form of chatting and listening to the befriendee, usually once a week. You’ll be doing this remotely via phone or video calls, depending on what you and your befriendee are most comfortable with. You will help them to improve their confidence and social skills.
If you are interested in getting involved, check out our volunteering page for more information.
